Getting to Know: Sebastian

This might be a shorter post today, but seeing it’s Friday and many of my posts for Blaugust have been long, I think I can take a little break. Sebastian is one of the few characters whom I did not create to be part of the Spot of Mummery story line – though I’d like to fit him in the story some day if I can.

Back in December of 2019, I lost my beloved flame point cat, Sebastian. His death came sudden and it hit me hard. It didn’t help that it was a couple days before Christmas, either.

One of the ways I dealt with this loss was by rolling the closest thing to a flame point Hrothgar as I could in FFXIV and naming him after my cat. Naturally, “Sebastian” is a given first name, and my cat’s nickname was “Kita.” So I added on the -sch of the Hrothgar naming convention to get “Kitasch”.

My goal was to create a Hrothgar with the personality of my cat – a chill, friendly and caring sort. I set out to make him a fisher and a cook – two things that my cat would have loved.

When it came to deciding on a main job, I was at a bit of a loss. Honestly, a healer might have suited his personality best, but I prefer to DPS. So I asked Syn what job I should make him. She suggested Dancer – because my cat had always been so playful.

Hrothgar and Dancer don’t usually mesh in my mind. But her logic was sound. So Dancer he became.

I’m currently leveling Sebastian’s Dancer to 70 where he can start his Shadowbringers adventures in earnest. He remains dancing through FFXIV in the memory of my old friend.

  1. That is sad, but beautiful all in one go… I’m sorry you lost your little furry friend the way you did. I’d be devastated if one of my two furbabies had to go like that.

But Sebastian Kitasch is a beautiful Hrothgar! Thanks for sharing your story about him, and his namesake. 🙂

    1. It was rough, I won’t lie. I even got a little sad today when I was looking back at the old post about him. But having a character in game based on Sebastian helps a little.

Back when I played GW2, I also had a flame point Charr! I just love flame point cats in general. They are quite handsome! 🙂

      1. I believe you. I actually went and tried to read your original post about him, but had to stop, because tears. ˆˆ; Too close to home.

Ah, GW2… those were the days. Yes, flame point kitties overall are very handsome! My kitties are not flame point though, one is a handsome tuxedo boy, and the other is a precious little blue point Ragdoll half-breed (a rescue, so can’t know for sure).
