Tome Appraisal for Inxli
February 2, 2024
From the Client
Inxli wanders into the shop and looks around with a shrewd appraising gaze. Yep. About what he'd expect from Amon. He wanders up to the machine marked T.H.E.M and stares at it for several moments. He and Allagan technology have a very bad history and he doesn't have the slightest idea how to work that machine. There seems to be a slot the shape of his tomestone but he doesn't want to risk it.
He had brought with him some more dusty Allagan technology from his curiosity shop. He had no idea how they had acquired so much but it was certainly more use to Amon than it was to him. He set the box down on the nearest place he could reach, likely the floor.
"Amon!? Are you here? I have a tomestone but I don't want to accidentally set your machine on fire or something!" He looks around, hoping his tall friend will come and rescue him from the horrors of Allagan technology.
Tome Attributes: It seems to be making odd noises.
Gil Donation: An entire box of dusty Allagan technology.
Tea Order: Lavender Law
Amon pokes his head up from the back corner of the tea shop where he’d been organizing some newly acquired teas by blend. His face visibly brightens at the sight of Inxli, and he emerges, brushing his hands across the front of his trousers as he walks out.
His eyes instantly catch sight of the box of offered Allagan artifacts, and it takes a lot of willpower not to let his thought linger on it overly long. He had a job to do, after all, and he could indulge in the rewards afterwards.
“Inxli, my friend! ‘Tis always grand to see you!” he exclaims warmly. “Do come in, and let me get you some tea. ‘Tis been nippy out there as of late.”
Amon gauges the Tome that the Lalafell has offered up for scanning, his ears catching a faint noise from it.
“What have you brought me today?”
Trying not to shake the Tome as he takes it for reading – the sound could be a sign of an internal failure or something that had come loose with time – he brings it behind the counter to T.H.E.M.
Appraisal Outcome
Thankfully, it seems like the Tome connects well enough and is in readable condition. I was a little worried based off the sound I’m hearing within it. You’ve requested a copy of the contents be made, which I think is prudent. The sound may indicate that the Tome is coming to end of life.
Time has been unkind to it, but it also appears to have seen its share of wear and tear in the Allagan age. The data marks I see indicate this was information that may have been a copy of a copy of a copy – so I doubt that it was all that rare in its time.
However, the title reads as: The Unseen Unveiled
While it may not have been a rare publication in terms of Allag, it might hold some interest for those looking into more cryptic topics from the ancient ages.
Amon carefully returns the Tome to Inxli, wiping it off a little before he hands it back. He also offers the SD copy of the data on a separate smaller Tome.
“I’d say that the Tome itself may not be of collectable condition due to time and wear. However, the information I’ve backed up to the separate Tome may have value to the right individual. Mayhaps even you?”
The Elezen didn’t know how much the Lalafell indulged in topics of the unknown, and casts a curious look.
“Either way, your very generous donations of Allagan artifacts are always put to good use. And if you have any trouble with your Tomephones, please don’t hesitated to let me know. I’m always happy to help!”
