Amon Can Sing Operatic Soprano
Posted on: June 7, 2019
I was looking up info on ST, and noticed this for the first time:
“His Cleave is called Coloatura (sic)”
Coloratura: elaborate ornamentation of a vocal melody, especially in operatic singing by a soprano.
So, basically, Amon sings opera at tanks as cleaves! Makes sense.
Poor quality screen from a tank-perspective video:

I still have to go back and rank Amon with all the ARR and HW tribes, but this is a good start!

Shirogane sunset in the treetops with Zel.
The big picture, however, is a bit more… interesting…

Last Day of Stormblood

Due to my work schedule, this is my final day in Stormblood. So I decided to chill and hang out on the Shirogane beach.
1 Year Anniversary!
Posted on: June 27, 2019
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of Spot of Mummery!
I just wanted to take a moment to ramble and thank everyone who has encouraged me to keep on keeping on with this blog!
A Long Process With Some Failure
I know that I’ve mentioned how I originally rolled Amon sometime back in 2017. This was when Mateus was coming into its own as a second RP server, and I really wanted to be part of that. But, I had no idea how to actually approach developing an RP character in the FFXIV universe - though I’ve RPed for a very long time, every fandom is a little different.
In the end, my first attempt at launching this Tumblr didn’t work out. I tried for a few months, didn’t get much traction or progression, and ended up putting it aside.
A year ago today, I decided to refresh my fiction writing skills by taking up the Camp NaNoWriMo July challenge. I wanted to focus on writing a story that could also possibly lead into RP, and post it on Tumblr just to see what happened.
In surveying my many alts to pick one as the main character, I actually almost deleted Amon and repurposed this blog. But something made me stop, and try again to write his story. This time, I was armed with a better knowledge of the lore, a Lore Book, and a better idea of what is appealing/acceptable to the FFXIV RP community.
I started writing the Coming Together story, creating alt characters to support Amon and help develop him. I also spent a good deal of time really thinking about his characterization and how he’d view the world… what made him the way he was, and a bit of his backstory.
Thank You!
Somehow, that second attempt miraculously stuck, and it led up to where this blog is today. Really, much of it is due to the encouragement and friendship you all have shown both Amon and myself.
I understand that folks playing NPC characters are not always preferable to some, especially a character of questionable moral association - and I respect that. So, that makes it even more incredible to have seen the kindness I have.
All the asks and memes and writing prompts and interactions mean so much to me. Thank you for making this past year an incredible one!
May the future and our journey to the First be even more incredible!
